- Shipper/Loader – Responsible for loading the product or equipment in a manner suitable for transport and communicating important loading information. When applicable, the shipper documents the condition and quantity of the freight on the BOL.
- Dispatcher/Broker – Responsible for communicating customer-provided load requirements to the carrier or driver. This may include passing along an SOP and confirming that required securement information has been communicated.
- Driver – A critical part of the process. The driver must confirm that the load is properly secured for transportation, that securement devices are in working condition, and that applicable DOT and FMCSA requirements are followed.
- Unloader/Consignee – Documents the condition of the freight when it arrives and notes visible damage or other issues on the BOL when appropriate.
